Island of the Gods – Miyajima
Just beyond the exit from UNESCO World Heritage Site, Itsukushima Shrine is the historical Daiganji-Gate-Nishimachi Street.
Along this street is a traditional residence dating back to the Meiji Era, which has been reimagined as our guesthouse, Shiomachi-an.
Here, you can experience the traditional life of a Miyajima resident in addition to enjoying the Japanese Cuisine available through our in-house restaurant, Shiomachi-Sushi Tsurumi.
We welcome all guests and hope you choose to stay with us at Shiomachi-an.
*Shiomachi-an translates to ‘lodge to wait for the tide,’ as regional merchants would rest on Miyajima as they waited for the tide to turn in their favor.
